CA_12-05In 2001, educators and community leaders came together to address the needs of families and education with the goal of improving educational attainment of DeKalb County youth. In response to this challenge, TerraFirma was formed, named for the “firm ground” early literacy provides in a child’s life.

TerraFirma’s mission is to educate children and serve as a resource for parents, educators, and community members who seek to nurture and enrich the lives of children.

Through innovative programming, TerraFirma:

  • Provides resources to help parents of children, ages 0 – 5, improve their parenting skills and abilities to coach their young children’s early learning efforts; and
  • Assists in providing professional training opportunities to teachers in DeKalb County public schools to meet the learning needs of children in kindergarten to fifth grades.
